Don't know where you get this information. Multiple adult game Devs have made millions off putting their game on Steam. Freshwomen sold 12 million units of Season 1 in less than 2 years. Village Rhapsody was in the top 100 best-selling Steam games in 2023 across all genres, not just adult titles.
Granted, the majority of AVNs are small fry, but there are a ton of folks that buy their porn games from Steam.
The real trick to making bank on Steam with adult titles, is translating your game into multiple languages.
